Brahms Requiem

img_5505-e1508492411511Brahms Requiem — live performance by Berlin Philharmonic. 7 PM in Berlin, 12 noon in New Orleans, October 21. Conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin (soon to succeed Jas. Levine at the Met); chorus the Rundfunkchor Berlin. First-rate job both musically and visually, fine photography; chorus used no scores. In Sec. 4, the most famous augmented fourth (diminished fifth?) in choral music, beautifully rendered. The Berlin Phil will next do Bach’s B Minor Mass in livestream, on October 28, with Ton Koopman conducting; something to plan for.
