Screen Shot 2013-10-10 at 4.15.12 PMAs a space nut who has flown on three ZeroG flights, I had to see this in IMAX 3D. And it didn’t disappoint at all. Two characters (Clooney and Bullock), space emergency, and some clever thinking, interspersed with amazing CGI around the Hubble, the International Space Station, the Soyuz, and even a putative Chinese space station, kept me rapt for two hours. Bullock does a terrific job tearing at our heartstrings, but this is not a movie with deep character development. If you like adventure, or space, or Sandra Bullock (who won all of our nerd hearts when she starred in “The Net” years ago), see it.

One Response to “Gravity”

  1. This was a visual thriller! As is the case these days, the trailers gave away all of the plot except for whether or not Sandra Bullock’s character survived. My only disappointment is that none of the two leads engaged me in a personal way; I was pulling for both, but I didn’t really feel a personal sympathy/empathy, which seemed like it should be low hanging fruit given the situation. Perhaps there was so much physical acting to be done, it is too much to also expect authentic emotion. But regardless….see this movie….in 3D….at IMAX if possible.
