Manon Lescaut

At the Met Opera, the Puccini score of “Manon Lescaut” was lovely. It was beautifully sung by the singers and performed by the orchestra. However, the small and simple story was completely overwhelmed by the atrocious and unwieldy sets, a silly concept, and poor direction. The singers and orchestra were valiant!
