Meteor Shower

steve-martinSteve Martin can do no wrong, and he does no wrong in so many ways – playwright, screen writer, novelist, actor, musician. Following his wonderfully warm blue-grass show “Bright Star,” his new show “Meteor Shower” takes dead aim at over-intellectualized marital relationships and California lifestyles. Ellen Roman noted its resemblance to the Get the Guest routine in “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” Not high drama, but sharp social commentary – and totally fun. Amy Schumer leads the four-person cast with a smart performance, abetted by among others Laura Benanti (also known for her Melania Trump appearances on “The Late Show.”) Martin is also an accomplished banjoist – life is not fair. In previews at the Booth Theatre. 4½ stars.
