New York City Ballet: Dances at a Gathering

I went for the “West Side Story Suite” and was bowled over by “Dances at a Gathering.” I went for Bernstein, Robbins and Sondheim and was blown away by Chopin. Dale and I haven’t been to the ballet in 20 years. Shame on us.

The hour of “West Side Story” was terrific, but didn’t hold a candle to the ethereal hour listening to Susan Walters playing the piano while Megan Fairchild, Sterling Hyltin, Lauren King, Rebecca Krohn, Sara Mearns, Jared Angle, Antonio Carmena, Zachary Catazaro, Robert Fairchild and Amar Ramasar danced like feathers in the wind.

I don’t know how long this will be playing, but if you have a chance to go, just go. [Editor’s Note” This program closed on May 15.]

Dale and I will be re-thinking ballet.

By the way, the David Koch Theatre is simply spectacular.
