NOLA French Film Festival and “Things to Come”

thingstocome.poster.ws_A great event every year in NOLA is the French Film Festival. This year has been no exception. I did not see all the films, but went to about half and all were wonderful. My favorite was “Things to Come” with the brilliant Isabelle Huppert, who plays a woman around 60, whose children are grown. When her husband leaves her for a younger woman, the need to reinvent herself is thrust upon her instead of chosen, but her face registers every emotion and conflicting feeling. It is a joy to watch her react to shifting tides (there’s a big water theme).

Other great films include: “My Life as a Zucchini,” “Personal Shopper,” “It’s Only the End of the World,” “The Death of Louis XIV,” “Cezanne et Moi” and “Unknown Girl.”
