xl_avatarPeter Gelb chose to open the season with “Norma,” a riveting drama about a Druid Priestess and her forbidden lover. The audience was transfixed throughout with both the beauty of the singing and suspense of the plot, which took place during a Roman occupation. During the next couple of hours of passion, pain, betrayal, fury and forgiveness, the characters contemplated murder, mayhem and suicide. One of these won out… in the process we witnessed great artistry, imaginative sets and certainly brilliant performances on the part of Sondra Radvanovsky, Joseph Calleja and Joyce DiDonato.
