Thor: Ragnarok

diav_qkuaaampzwI don’t usually post reviews of pictures most of us think of for our grandchildren, but “Thor: Ragnarok” was so good that I felt compelled to share. It has a great cast, including Tony Hopkins as Odin, all the usual giant fights and special effects, but with something special. Humor. Jeff Goldblum’s fey Master has to be seen. Cate Blanchett as a Catwoman evil foe of her brother Thor reminded me of Eartha Kitt’s old Batman performances. Short appearances by Benedict Cumberbatch and Mark Ruffalo add. But it is director Taika Waititi’s decision to play this one very tongue-in-cheek that makes it a joy to watch. Nobody takes themselves too seriously, which allows the action to be even more accented. It’s OK to see it without a grandchild.
